Today we switched off the old DOHSBase portal at dohsbaseonline.com. After seven years, from 2019 until now, that address is no longer a separate application. Anyone who still goes there lands automatically on the new portal: portal.dohsbase.nl. From now on, that is the only portal.
In brief: The portal that ran on dohsbaseonline.com since 2019 has been retired. Existing links and bookmarks to dohsbaseonline.com keep working — they redirect automatically (301) to portal.dohsbase.nl, so you don’t need to change anything. The new portal is not just a move: it has been rebuilt, and we have already shipped a series of improvements since launch.
A look back
When DOHSBase Online went live in 2019, it was a big step. Before that, DOHSBase was mainly an offline desktop program — DOHSBase2000, with the compare feature many occupational hygienists grew up with. The portal brought the full substance database, the limit values and that compare feature to the browser for the first time, reachable from any workplace. For seven years that portal did its job faithfully.
So the end of dohsbaseonline.com is not a line through the past — it is the tidying-up of an address that has completed its task. The functionality has not disappeared. It has moved, and grown considerably.
Why a new portal
We started over because the old platform had hit its limits: every improvement took disproportionate effort. portal.dohsbase.nl was built from the ground up, so we can now add new features far faster. And that is exactly what has happened.
Since launch we have shipped, among other things:
- DOHSBase Compare, rebuilt — the familiar Compare mode from the desktop years returns as a web feature, with the TOX × TIX = RAS methodology, kick-off badges and shareable URLs.
- Belgian limit values — the limit values from the Belgian Codex, the CMR scope of book VI and a separate BE profile, alongside the Dutch and European values.
- Stoffenmanager export — direct export of substance data for your risk assessment.
And this is not the finish line. There is more on the way.
The response so far
What has moved us most is the response. Since the switch we have had a lot of positive feedback from users — about the speed, about the rebuilt Compare module, and about the ease of a portal that simply works in the browser. That means a great deal, and it confirms that rebuilding was the right call.
What we ask of you
A portal gets better through the people who use it every day. So if you come across something that could be better, miss a feature you knew from the desktop years, or have an idea that would make your work easier: let us know. Your input largely determines what we build next.
You can reach us through support in the portal or the contact form. Small remarks are welcome too — those are often exactly the things that make the difference in daily use.
Thank you to everyone who used dohsbaseonline.com over the past seven years. We look forward to continuing with you on the new portal.
