Key Summary: This is a curated directory of the Dutch and European occupational-health sources that DOHSBase itself aggregates from — so you can go to the primary source whenever you want to verify a limit value, read the underlying methodology, or check the regulatory context of a specific decision. The list includes HYGINIST (workplace exposure assessment software), the Gezondheidsraad for health-based advisory limit values, the SER Subcommittee on Limit Values for the Dutch legal framework, the RIVM for risk assessment and substance information, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) for REACH and CLP, the Arboportaal of the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs for workplace safety regulation, and the NVvA (Dutch Occupational Hygiene Society) for professional publications and the annual symposium. Each of these is an input that DOHSBase aggregates, validates and hierarchically ranks — making this page a transparency reference for where the data you see in DOHSBase Online actually comes from.

HYGINIST - Workplace Exposure Assessment Software

HYGINIST is a specialized software package designed to assist in the planning and evaluation of workplace exposure measurements for (bio)chemical substances. The tool was developed by Theo Scheffers (DOHSBase co-founder) and is hosted by TSAC.

Gezondheidsraad - Advisory Workplace Limit Values

The Gezondheidsraad (Health Council of the Netherlands) publishes advisory limit values for substances in the workplace atmosphere via the “Gezond Werken” (Healthy Work) advisory topic. These recommendations are based on health considerations alone, without factoring in technical or economic feasibility.

SER - Occupational Exposure Limits for Hazardous Substances

The Subcommittee on Limit Values for Substances in the Workplace (GSW, formerly known as the “Subcommittee MAC”) operates under the Social and Economic Council (SER). Its work program, information on how limit values are established, the feasibility assessment, and a comprehensive database of occupational exposure limits can all be found on their website.

ECHA - European Chemicals Agency

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) manages the REACH and CLP regulations and maintains a comprehensive database of substance information, classifications, and registration dossiers.

RIVM - Risk Assessment and Substance Information

The RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) provides information on health risks of substances, including risk limits and background concentrations.

Arboportaal - Dutch Government

The Arboportaal from the Ministry of Social Affairs provides practical information on hazardous substances in the workplace and applicable regulations.

NVvA - Dutch Occupational Hygiene Society

The NVvA is the professional association for occupational hygienists in the Netherlands, offering access to publications, courses, and the annual symposium.
