In brief: DOHSBase Online is used mainly in the Netherlands, by a broad mix of organisations, and internationally. Over a third are industrial companies, from chemicals and pharma to metals and energy. Almost half are advisers: consultancies, occupational health services and independent hygienists who use DOHSBase on behalf of their clients. The rest are universities, academic medical centres, research institutes and government.

What each group uses it for
Industry. Companies in chemicals and pharma, manufacturing, energy and utilities, metals, food, and transport and logistics. They use DOHSBase to find the applicable limit value and its health-based basis for each substance in their own substance register, risk assessment and exposure assessment.
Advisers: consultancies, occupational health services and independents. Together almost half of our customers. They assess substances for clients and support their advice with the limit value, its source and its place in the limit-value hierarchy. That takes DOHSBase well beyond its own customer base: each adviser works for many companies.
Universities, academic medical centres and research institutes. For research on workplace exposure, for running their own laboratories, and for teaching.
Government. Public bodies at national and regional level.
Training providers. Students on occupational hygiene and safety courses work with DOHSBase during their training, so they learn the sources they will use in practice.
Countries
Customers are primarily in the Netherlands, with a substantial international user base as well, including Belgium and elsewhere in Europe. Recognition
DOHSBase’s kick-off values have been accepted by the Dutch Labour Inspectorate since 2012.
