The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) recently migrated its online platform to a new infrastructure. As a result, over 500,000 deep links from DOHSBase to individual substance records on the ECHA portal stopped working. We have now resolved this issue, and all links are fully functional again.
What Is ECHA?
ECHA is the European Union agency responsible for the implementation of chemicals legislation. It manages one of the world’s largest databases of chemical substance information, including data on hazard classification, registration dossiers, and regulatory restrictions under REACH and CLP. For occupational hygienists, ECHA is a primary source of information on substance properties, harmonised classifications, and risk management measures.
Why Deep Links Matter
DOHSBase provides direct links to ECHA substance records so that users can quickly navigate from a substance in DOHSBase to its full regulatory dossier on the ECHA portal. These deep links save significant time when you need to verify classification details, review registration data, or check the latest regulatory status of a substance.
When ECHA migrated to its new platform, the URL structure changed. This meant that hundreds of thousands of links in DOHSBase pointed to pages that no longer existed. For users, this resulted in broken links and the need to manually search the ECHA portal — a time-consuming detour in a typical workflow.
The Fix
We have updated all affected links in DOHSBase to point to the correct locations on the new ECHA platform. Whether you are looking up a single substance or reviewing a list of chemicals for a workplace assessment, the links to ECHA substance records will take you directly to the right page.
If you encounter any remaining broken links, please contact us so we can address them promptly.
